Have Fun With the Family For Free in Washington, DC

Visiting a major city usually presents tons of opportunities for sightseeing and fun activities, though often at a considerable financial expense. It doesn't have to be that way. In our nation's capital, for example, you can find plenty of exciting things to do at no cost at all. Let's examine some of the best ways you can have fun with the whole family for free in Washington, D.C. The National Mall In a city full of iconic landmarks, the National Mall might be the most iconic. It is, in fact, the country's most visited national park, and for good reason. Here, you'll find some of the best-known national monuments, sculptures, and statues. On the west end of the park is the Lincoln Memorial. On the east end is the U.S. Capitol. In between are such important sights as the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, the Belmont-Paul Women's Equality National Monument, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the Vietnam War Veterans Memorial, and so many more. Both adults and children can appreciate the physical and symbolic magnitude of the National Mall, the site of numerous profound events of national importance. They can stand where thousands marched for women's suffrage, where hundreds of thousands marched for civil rights, and where Dr. King delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech. Not only that, but simply being at the National Mall positions you for easy access to several other top-notch sights, which we will discuss next. The Smithsonian Institution The Smithsonian Institution could have taken up this entire list. That's because the Smithsonian isn't just one place. It comprises 19 national museums, all of which are free to visit. Given the breadth of the offerings, as well as the quality of the exhibitions each museum has to offer, it's difficult to limit our suggestions. That's part of the reason why the Smithsonian is such an essential visit: there's something for everyone. The National Air and Space Museum, with its host of amazing aerospace technology, is typically a hit for youngsters and grown-ups alike. The National Museum of Natural History provides as intimate an experience with the natural world as you can get inside a building. And the National Museum of American History provides a fascinating education on the sociopolitical and technological developments of the United States over time. Really, though, if you have the time, you should try to check out all of the Smithsonian spots. You and your family may leave having developed a reinvigorated appreciation for society, culture, and the world in general. The National Zoo The National Zoo is another Smithsonian establishment, but it's worth considering separately from the museums. If you have kids, the zoo is a must on your D.C. itinerary. With more than 1,800 animals from around the world, it's almost certain to fascinate the minds of your young ones. Here, though, the idea of conservation underscores all of the exhibits, which helps to provide a more profound level of wildlife exposure compared to many other types of zoos. The National Zoo also offers specialized programs targeting families. Its Virtual Field Trips, for example, are 45-minute lessons that center on the natural world and provide opportunities to learn through discussion. There's also a Little Critters Story Time program in which educators read a storybook aloud and lead learners in interactive activities. Such programs are useful not only for building children's minds but also for engaging them with the animal kingdom and other scientific topics. Library of Congress Any book lovers in your family? If so, take in the experience at the Library of Congress. The library actually takes up several buildings. Among them, the Thomas Jefferson Building offers some of the best sights. For visitors, the Thomas Jefferson Building offers a unique type of museum experience, as there are numerous exhibits found within. Walk through a re-creation of the library of Thomas Jefferson, an avid reader and book collector on a broad array of topics. Study the thousands of prints, documents, paintings, and artifacts in the Exploring the Early Americas to gain insight into the lives of America's indigenous peoples and their encounters with settlers. And consider the Hope for America exhibit, which explores the intersection of pop culture and American politics. John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is home to multiple American institutions, including the National Symphony Orchestra, the Washington National Opera, and the Suzanne Farrell Ballet. Tickets for such performances may cost money, but the guided tours of the center don't. Follow along while a docent educates you and your family about the building and the life of President Kennedy. Then take in a breathtaking view of the city and the Potomac River on the rooftop terrace. Take in a free show, too. The Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage offers free film screenings and live shows. You can even catch showings of well-loved, acclaimed hits like "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Parasite" in addition to rich cultural performances by a diverse variety of musicians and other performing artists. Walking For the last entry on our list, we'd like to recommend a free activity you can do in just about every major city: walking. If the idea of just strolling through the capital seems daunting, consider booking a guided walking tour with Free Tours by Foot, a company that specializes in that sort of thing. Its featured tours are theme-based and include an Arlington Cemetery tour, nightly ghost tours, and a tour of national cathedrals. As you might have guessed by the company's name, the tours are free. Tipping your guide, however, would be a good move. If you'd rather go the structureless route, we'd suggest taking a stroll through historic Georgetown. The limits of the area provide a natural perimeter to define your self-guided tour, the old architecture of the neighborhood is just stunning, and its history offers a degree of profundity to the exercise you'll get trekking through the streets. Those are our recommendations for fun free family activities in Washington, D.C. If you have your own suggestions, we'd love to hear them. Give us a call at 571-570-3496 to speak directly with an associate from our dealership, or submit a message online via our contact page. While you're here, consider browsing our inventory of new Toyotas and used vehicles. Then see us at our dealership at 8610 Leesburg Pike in Vienna, Virginia, for a test drive. From there, just head 15 miles east to D.C. to enjoy the best free sights the city has to offer. Image by Caleb Fisher is licensed with Unsplash License

Used Chevy Corvette on Display

Rare Used Luxury Vehicles to Look Out For

Luxury cars represent the best of the best that automakers have to offer. They range from sports cars to sedans and even four-wheel drive models that were once known for their utility. You're probably aware that they're also expensive when brand new, which can put them out of your purchasing reach. At Koons Tysons Toyota, we've put together a list of rare, used luxury vehicles that are worth hunting down. The used market for luxury cars is always strong and can make it more difficult to find the car of your dreams. If you keep your eyes peeled, you might just find you can buy the car you're seeking at a price that makes sense. Chevrolet Corvette Stingray The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C8 is a sleek number that represents the cutting edge of the current generation of Corvettes. The Corvette got an overhaul to turn it into a mid-engine vehicle instead of the front-engine configuration that was with the Corvette since its inception. Not only did this change turn the Corvette into a serious contender on the racing circuit, but it also enabled Chevy's designers to update its styling. The Stingray package features the latest update of Chevy's popular luxury sport V-8, an engine that has true staying power and is easily repaired. You'll get full American muscle car power that competes with European supercars for much less money when you get a used Corvette Stingray C8. Land Rover Defender 110 Carpathian Edition Land Rover delivers on its heritage of rugged reliability and luxury with the 525 hp, V-8 Defender 110 Carpathian Edition. Just one look at the beefy exterior of the Defender with the Carpathian package will make you long for the hills. To drive on and conquer, that is. At the core of the Defender 110 Carpathian Edition is a vehicle that draws upon decades of British 4x4 engineering. The exterior design of the 110 draws upon the Defender 90 that harkens back to an era where four-wheel drive vehicles were purely utilitarian. However, you won't have to deal with getting your teeth rattled in the Defender 110 Carpathian Edition because it's designed to deliver a luxury ride even in the roughest terrain. Bentley Bentayga Hybrid The Bentley nameplate represents the pinnacle of luxury cars. Manufacturers build each one by hand with machines used to aid with precision work. Sometimes you'll find the signature of the craftsperson on the reverse side of a part or in the engine. The second Bentley sport utility vehicle (SUV) model ever made by the company, Bentayga, brought to bear all this attention to detail. The Bentayga combines old-world craftsmanship with modern design and technology to deliver an SUV that's pure elegance. The interior of the Bentayga features the finest materials and finishes for a driving experience that's almost impossible to beat. Its instrument cluster and interior controls are tactile, delivering feedback that lets you know with certainty that you've engaged a control. Manufacturers designed its suspension to handle off-roading as if it were a 4×4 vehicle but won't transmit harsh bumps and jarring sensations to its passengers. A plug-in hybrid version has been on the market for a few years and greatly improves the gas economy of the Bentayga. The Bentayga by itself is a rare vehicle, and the hybrid is even more uncommon. You can't go wrong with the Bentayga regardless of the engine, but the hybrid version is worth searching out for the fuel cost savings alone. Mercedes-Benz S 580 4Matic The Mercedes-Benz S 580 4Matic is a sleek, streamlined number that represents the best that the car company has to offer. It's also a sleeper in that it doesn't look like it can do zero to 60 in 4.4 seconds but does it handily with its 496-hp engine. Car manufacturers didn't design this Mercedes-Benz for speed even though its engine is more than up to the task of fast acceleration. Instead, the S 580 focuses on delivering a luxury driving experience that almost feels as if you should be riding in the back and have someone else do the driving. Driving a Mercedes-Benz S 580 4Matic is about enjoying the drive as you head toward your destination. The interior technology includes gesture control, a large infotainment screen for ease of viewing, and a 3D-capable display. Its navigation system comes with an augmented reality feature. The concept behind driving this vehicle is to sit back, relax, and let the car handle certain tasks, so you don't have to. The S 580 is a rare luxury car on its own, but it goes one step further with the Mercedes-Maybach version. The Mercedes-Maybach delivers the ultimate luxury driving experience that's typically reserved for royalty and heads of state. It's difficult to source a used Mercedes-Maybach, but it's worth it if you want to own a car on a different plane of vehicular existence. BMW X6 M The BMW X6 M combines the visuals of a coupe and an SUV with its high roof line that quickly slopes downwards toward the rear. BMW calls the X6 M a sports activity coupe as proof of its intent to merge the two body types. Another aspect that makes this one of the rarer luxury vehicles is the fact that it's an M model. That means this version of the X6 is built with racing in mind. The interior provides luxury features, but the performance of the X6 M puts this on the list of used luxury vehicles to keep an eye out for. The driver's seat is more like a cockpit with controls that let you tune the engine and performance to your specifications. The ride is tighter than that of an SUV due to its motorsport's lineage, but it's welcome when making corners and tight maneuvers. This concludes our list of rarely used luxury vehicles to be on the lookout for. Did we miss a vehicle that you think belongs here? Drop us a line today, and we'll make sure to add it to the list. Meanwhile, come see us at Koons Tysons Toyota to check out our inventory of used luxury vehicles and drive home your dream car today. 2023 Toyota 4Runner at the beach

2023 Toyota 4Runner Off-Roading

Is an off-roading adventure right up your alley? Do you need a vehicle that can keep up with your adventurous spirit and lifestyle? Then perhaps you should consider the 2023 Toyota 4Runner. For decades, the 4Runner has provided a reliable, durable, and comfortable way for drivers to explore the countryside, both on the road and off. This year marks the 40th anniversary of this stylish ride, and Toyota will release a special edition to mark the occasion. Here's a closer look at the 2023 4Runnerand its amazing off-roading capabilities. Engine Before you take your wheels off the pavement, you'll want to know you have a capable engine under the hood. You can count on the 4Runner, with its 4.0-liter V-6 engine, to provide. This powerful block delivers 270 horsepower and a peak torque of 278 lb-ft. Thanks to its dual independent variable valve timing with intelligence, torque is optimized to ensure ideal responsiveness, no matter where you're driving. The Toyota 4Runner's five-speed ECT-i automatic transmission with sequential shift mode lets you move through the gears manually when taking on tough climbs. Every model is capable of towing up to 5,000 pounds. The integrated tow hitch receiver and wiring harness make it easy to hook up a trailer and go. Hill start assist helps hold you in place on a steep incline while you shift from the brake to the gas, while downhill assist control prevents wheel lockup by helping you maintain a constant low speed. Opt for one of the TRD models to enjoy Toyota's Crawl Control and an electronic locking rear differential. These models also have a multi-terrain monitor to provide a better view of the landscape. Performance Performance is everything when you take your vehicle off-roading, and you don't want to get stuck in the hills without a ride. Luckily, the 4Runner has everything you need to go anywhere you want. For starters, it offers a four-link rear axle and coil link suspension, along with body-on-frame construction that makes it tough but also comfortable, even on rough and rocky terrain. It's available in two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations, so you can choose which option best suits your needs. You'll have 9 inches of ground clearance with two-wheel-drive models. These models also use automatic limited-slip differential to allow the wheels to spin a little, helping them get out of snow or sand easily. Upgrading to the part-time four-wheel-drive version increases the ground clearance to 9.6 inches. With four-wheel drive, you can take advantage of the active traction control, which distributes drive force to any wheel that's touching the ground. A two-speed transfer case with a selectable low range can help with steep climbs and overcoming challenging terrain. Exterior Each trim level of the 4Runner has its own unique look and design. For the TRD Pro, the most off-road-capable 4Runner, you'll get the TRD Pro badge, and you can choose from these exterior colors: Solar Octane. White. Magnetic Gray Metallic. Black. Other features you can look forward to with this trim level are a 1/4-inch-thick aluminum front skid plate with red TRD lettering, a TRD roof rack, alloy flow-form wheels with Nitto Terra Grappler tires, and a cat-back exhaust. Although the TRD is the best model for off-roading, you'll still get a capable SUV with the other trim levels. Some of the exterior styling features you can expect to see in other trims include: Color-keyed accents on the grille. A front spoiler. A hood scoop. Chrome-finished trim. For the 40th Anniversary Special Edition trim, you'll find several cool features that make this 4Runner stand out. It's available in White, Barcelona Red Metallic, or Midnight Black Metallic. In addition to these options, it also has 17-inch alloy wheels, a body-color grille, a bronze-colored 40th Anniversary exterior tailgate badge, and head-turning heritage graphics in red, yellow, and orange. Interior As you climb, crawl, and explore the off-road features in your area, you're sure to enjoy being behind the wheel of the 2023 4Runner. Every trim is a little different, but each offers comfort and space for passengers and gear. For example, if you're planning to bring along camping supplies, you'll have 47.2 cubic feet of space with the back seat up. If you only have two people along for the adventure, fold the seats down to give yourself an enormous 89.7 cubic feet of room for your gear. Take advantage of the pull-out cargo deck when loading your gear. It can support up to 440 pounds, making it easy to get ready and go. There's a 120-volt outlet, so you can plug in whatever you need. For additional comfort, the SR5 Premium and TRD Off-Road Premium trims feature SofTex-trimmed seats, heated front seats, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. In the Limited trim, you'll enjoy leather-trimmed seats and a panoramic view monitor that gives you a bird's-eye view of the area around your SUV. Safety Even when you're off-roading, you want a vehicle that offers all the latest safety tech so you have a safe and fun ride everywhere you go. With the 2023 Toyota 4Runner, you'll get the Toyota Safety Sense-P suite of driver assist features and technology standard across the lineup. This suite offers lane departure alert with sway warning, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, and high-speed dynamic radar cruise control. Also new for 2023, all 4Runners come standard with a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert. If you're planning for an off-roading adventure, you may want to explore the 2023 Toyota 4Runner. No matter which trim you choose, you're sure to find one with the features you want. Should You Buy a Luxury Car in 2022?

With so many impressive vehicles available, you may have many options to consider if you're looking for a new one in 2022. As stylish sedans continue to gain popularity, we know there are several popular models that you might be interested in, so it's important to assess your priorities and make sure that a luxury vehicle is right for you. If this is the first time that you're thinking about purchasing or leasing a more expensive vehicle, there are several things to keep in mind when looking for your next car. Here's a list of questions to consider to help you decide whether you should buy a luxury car: What's the Difference Between Regular and Luxury Vehicles? If you're looking into buying a luxury car, you may be wondering what the difference is between these vehicles and the regular options, and why they're worth the additional financial investment. Luxury vehicles are sure to impress with their additional safety systems, the latest technology, and comfortable interior features. You can also feel confident in the fit and finish of a luxury car, and the quality of the interior and exterior materials. If you take one of the luxury vehicles at Koons Tysons Toyota for a spin, you'll immediately notice the difference compared to a regular car, truck, or SUV. What Size Vehicle are You Looking For? If you're considering buying a luxury car in 2022, it's important to evaluate what size of vehicle you want and take a look at the available models that suit your preferences. The size of a vehicle can impact a variety of its features, including fuel economy, interior details, and price, so make sure you know what you're looking for when browsing for a new high-end car. If you're looking for a smaller vehicle, consider compact cars like the Audi A3, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, and the five-door compact hatchback Toyota Prius Prime. It's important to remember that smaller sedans typically offer less room in the back seat, so if you plan on using the car for school pick-ups or family trips, you may want to consider a larger option. You can also check out a larger mid-sized or full-sized sedan if you're interested in additional luxuries and comfort. While they usually have a higher price tag, these vehicles, such as the Genesis G80 or the Toyota Mirai, include a variety of features that make for a more enjoyable ride. Even though they may have a higher price range, these cars can offer impressive value for your investment and are sure to have the features you're looking for in a luxury vehicle. How Can You Afford a Luxury Car? If you're unsure how to afford your dream car, consider leasing a luxury vehicle to save on your purchase and drive off the lot in the car you want. A lease allows you to rent a car for a specific period of time from a dealership, making it easier to drive a car for several years that may otherwise have been outside of your budget. For example, you can sign up for a three-year lease with us at Koons Tysons Toyota. You can discuss your options with the experts in our finance center to learn about the best payment plan and interest rate for you. We understand that buying or leasing a new car is a significant investment, and we want you to feel confident that you've made the best choice for your lifestyle and price range. Why Are Luxury Cars Popular?
