Koons Toyota of Tysons

Aug 30, 2022

As Tysons continues to grow, there’s no shortage of exciting things to do over the weekend. Whether you’re looking for a night out with friends or a family-friendly afternoon, you have plenty of options to consider. Our team at Koons Tysons Toyota has created a list of fun activities and attractions in the Tysons, Virginia, area to help you to decide what to do this weekend.

Meadowlark Botanical Gardens

Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature with a visit to Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. These sprawling acres are home to gardens that are alive with native and ornamental plant collections, impressive forests, lakes, wildlife, and more. It’s the perfect place for a stroll on a beautiful day. During your walk, be sure to keep an eye out for sculptures along the trails and throughout the gardens.

Each season provides a different experience at the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. As summer comes to a close, your chances to see daylilies in beautiful pastel hues or the striking greenery that resembles a sub-tropical environment begin to dwindle. With fall approaching, the garden begins to change colors as the weather cools, and it transforms into gorgeous shades of yellow, red, and orange.

While you can’t enjoy a picnic inside the botanical gardens, there’s a designated picnic area just outside of the fenced-in area. You can find this area near the Lilac Pavillion, and it is available to guests on a first-come, first-served basis. However, you can’t have more than 10 people without a reservation. It is a short walk from the parking lot, which means that you can enjoy your meal before or after your garden visit.

Meadowlark Botanical Gardens is located less than 10 minutes from Tysons in Vienna. It operates daily, but hours change seasonally. Admission is $3 for guests aged 55 and older, $6 for guests aged 18 to 54, $3 for guests aged 6 to 17, and free for guests under the age of 6. Be sure to review the guide of things to do before your visit to ensure that you don’t miss any special events.

Muse Paintbar

Consider heading to Muse Paintbar if you’re looking to get in touch with your inner artist. This unique studio provides guided sessions where you can create a canvas painting to take home with you. It also has a wine bar, just in case you’d like to pair your evening out with a glass of your favorite red or white wine. It’s also available for private events if you want something fun to do with a large group.

If you’re looking for something fun to try at home, it also offers Muse To Go. This service allows you to order kits directly to your home and provides you with access to a video that explains each step of creating your artwork. Different kit options are available for girls’ nights, date nights, or family fun with your kids.

Muse Paintbar has a Virginia location just ten minutes from Tysons at the Mosaic District in Fairfax. Be sure to check out its calendar of upcoming events to find the session that works best for you. The calendar includes a preview of the painting that you’ll create, prices, dates, and times. If the session is a certain type of event, such as a family day or a couples’ night, you can make a reservation through the calendar.

Roer’s Zoofari

Roer’s Zoofari is the perfect destination for animal lovers. This unique zoo provides opportunities for up-close animal encounters through activities like parakeet feeding, camel rides, a butterfly garden, and a barnyard experience. One of the highlights of visiting this attraction is the Zoofari safari tram ride, which is a tour that shows you animals like bison, deer, and more. You can also schedule private animal encounters to learn about and even touch animals, including baby goats, snakes, parrots, and kangaroos.

Roer’s Zoofari is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and it’s located close to Tysons in Vienna. Daily admission starts at $15 per child and $20 per adult, and there’s a $5 fee per person per experience for most experiences, although some may have higher fees or additional charges. However, the attraction offers a variety of value packs and season passes, including a season pass that covers the whole family.

Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts

Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts Is a perfect blend of nature and the arts. This unique national park is home to several walking trails and multiple outdoor theaters, including a children’s theater and the Filene Center. The 7,000-seat amphitheater attracts a variety of events, including rock concerts, stand-up comedy shows, orchestra performances, and more. Be sure to check out the calendar of upcoming events to see what’s coming soon.

Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts is conveniently located in Vienna, approximately five minutes from Tysons. It’s open from dawn until dusk nearly all year round, but performances at the theaters may affect whether the trails are open to the public. It’s best to check the operational hours before your visit.
